“Whenever I’ve served this cake the recipe has been much in demand.” is noted at the top of this recipe, and it is right. This cake was great!

2 cups white sugar
1/2 cup shortening
2 eggs
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. allspice
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
2 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 cups chopped nuts (I used walnuts)
4 cups chopped, peeled, raw apples

Method:
Cream shortening and sugar in large mixing bowl. Add eggs and beat well. Sift dry ingredients together and add to creamed mixture. Add apples and nuts and mix well. Batter will be stiff. Bake 40 to 45 minutes in 350 degree F. oven in 9 by 13 inch baking pan. Serve with whipped cream or ice cream.
